Ok Colton you need to back to basic 4x4 school that’s a Dana 44 I missed you at the collage we left early to get tools then got back late but we didn't see you
and for anyone who doesn't know (Colton this includes you) CUCV's have many different versions anything made before 1977 will not have a Dana 60 Chevy just didn't use a 60 for some reason so under every pre '77 CUCV you will find a heavy duty 3/4 ton Dana 44 (you can tell by the bolt on drive flange) and were rated for 1 1/4 ton but if you look up the class of truck there actually a k20 model what they did was add a bolt on axle truss (I have one here wasting space but its for sale) and every CUCV made after '77 had main 3 styles the 1/2 ton. The only CUCV you’ll find in 1/2 ton is a blazer which was used as an ambulance or radio transport but these were short lived. A 3/4 ton basically the same as a pre '77 CUCV but with a 10 bolt not a 44. and the real 1 1/4 ton which is a heavy duty 1 ton with a Dana 60 and a 14 bolt Detroit locker rear and limited slip in the 60 and these are the ones that everyone is after
now the CUCV in Tafts is junk but it still has some cool parts its a '76 k20 rated for 1 1/4 ton it has the 4 core rad but its punctured it has a oil cooler that’s a bitch to remove without wrecking it (I tried but didn't want to wreck the fittings so I gave up) a pintle, the heaviest duty stock rear bumper known to man, you will rip the frame before this bumper flexes but it looks like a stock pickup bumper (can we say sleeper) and the cool CUCV brush guard but that may be gone as there was another guy looking at it. 4 bolt 350 (I’m tempted but I want a 400) TH400 with a NP203 and the real sweet deal is a 14 bolt and Dana 44 geared to 4.56 for $115 if I didn't have my set up I’d get it, however the rear is not locked (that was one of the first things I looked for)
now for the cool stuff I got some odd spare parts plus 2 sweet military only things. rear heavy duty .125" wall 3.5" driveshaft with 1 free dent (good thing I’m shortening it) and a hand throttle its a simple set up but it's exactly what I’m looking for and the knob matches the rest of my dash (ugly, old ,and dirty) and I’m thinking of going back for that oil cooler so it wasn't a waste of a day but I am disappointed that I don’t have a Dana 60 but I can't completely blame Colton I heard Dana 60, 100 dollars and I ran into it without asking any questions
