for the second truck 79 sounds about right but the rear end is a dana 70. what engine did that have i know someone who may want that trany and i'm assuming its a 2wd (i think i can see a radius arm in the wheel well)
the first one is about a '90 but there basicly the same as a '88 and yep thats a sterling under it. $75 is a great price for it but you gota know what your doing when setting up gears especaly used ones so it may be easer to find the right set, but if you're up for setting them up i say go for it it's a good deal
and is the first one a 4 or 5 speed and 4wd or 2wd (ya i know i'm a pain but i'm always looking for more parts)

The first truck looks exact, i'll have to look at the drum on mine again it seems different that one may have ABS brake don't what differance there might be but all the yards i called asked ABS or not, mines not, damn i don't want to pass up a deal like that if i could just put all my parts in there it'ud be perfect, would the splines on the shafts be the same as mine?

I was inquiring about the setting up & ya i wouldn't be able to do it without studying a fawk of alot & dial indicator, backlash spacers what not, but i wonder does the dana 70 have 4.10 i could swap it right out.

I'm thinki'n to make the job easier if there gonna cut i'd just get them to cut the left side axle fairly close to the leaf all i'd need is the spindle & shaft & hub to be safe, and pay the 75 buck he can keep the rest i'm think'n i have a huge Hobart welder now i can get it wired up & weld the spindle on here, it would take some machining up a jig to fit over the existing axle to center it but i can do that, let me know what u think Low. be sure to remove the shaft before cutting though as thats good parts i need LOL.

you want to talk real exciting i loaded a 14bolt into the back of a toyota corrola now that was a half hour of cursing and swearing
and i woulden't bother swaping the spindle its a pain to do plus the odds of getting it aligned properly without the proper equiptment ($$$$) is pretty slim if i recall correctly there pressed in then welded to the tube

this one is machine right out of the tube, i should be able to face the ends bevel & reweld, the back plate for the brakke can be cut off & rewelded also, seems to be my only option right now as i will get a date with a supermodel before finding one with 4.10s.

i'd say just swap your internels into this housing i think lowrad has set up gears before and i have a dial gauge if you want to borrow it

I'm deffinately going to explore those possibilities Fierodude i think when it come down to it i'll prolly set it up with my gears, cause i dont trust my welding all that much if it was the only way maybe LOL thanx i may take you up on that dial indicator i;ll let ya no..

As long as your just swapin the gears and carrier from one to the other I can't see it being out that bad....there are dies you can put in your gear oil and run to show you were your teeth are makin contact...Ie right in the middle where there supposed to be...or ridding the top or ridding the bottom.....the backlash shouldn't be that far out....I haven't set up gears myself..I know Stinger has and Bart has done it several times....you should be able to do it considering it's just a staight swapping of your carrier and gears into the other housing
