I would officially like to say that Toyota's SUCK ASS!!!! Today I got the pleasure, or got stuck to be more honest, working on my first Toyota 4-runner at work. GARBAGE. I honestly couldn't find anything on this truck that I liked about it and I think it was only a '92 and the poor guy who bought it has already dropped like $2000 into just trying to get it through a safety and e-test and it STILL needs work.....I used to be somewhat curious about Toyota's, but i'm sorry boys, all you wheelers need to lose the 'toy' trucks and get Jeeps...seriously.
Sorry, this piece of shit upset me so much i just needed to vent...lol.

That's why i call them Tonka Toys... just like the actual tonka toys, you can never keep all the parts in the same place let alone where they belong....

Sure Shaner ... like we would all listen to you ! (PickupGirl ... go back to applying your eyeshadow, Tyler's secret favourite "truck" is a Pontiac Aztec ) Its like listening to a runny nosed kid tell you that fruit flavoured gummy bears are proper substitutes for eating their fruits & veggies . Are you related to those people who thought the world was flat or that the sun revolves around the earth ( Shaner is looking this up on the internet as you read this !). Do you still believe in the tooth fairy? ... Oops did I let it out of the bag? My 4Runner has 500 000 km on it ... original 22RE does not burn or drip oil, original clutch ! tranny/transfer case. It has passed every e-test easily. It has had a rad, alternator & starter in the last 10 yrs. It has never blown a universal & that is with years of offroading LOCKED in the rear using 31's. Birfields ... never had a problem ... with 2 vehicles that have done everything ... one locked front AND rear with 35's. Both have been in water up to the wipers. The 4Runner has been so reliable it can sit for 6 months & then do a run such as Hell's trail, then park & wait till the next ... ask Stinger, Lowrad, IronPig, NastyCJ, Bart on & on ..... about it ... he has seen it work. Sure it has IFS but it can be swapped with earlier solid axle Yotas. Ever notice how many Jeeps are running 1 ton drivelines instead of Jeep? If not ... you better get out of the Mall. Some day look at the diff, driveshaft, universals, axles of the FJ40 & compare them to ANY Jeep. Both Yotas have lockable fronthubs ..$1100 to buy for an XJ or YJ,TJ .... Comes with tow hooks. Not an XJ. Can throw 31's under it with no lift & no rubbing. XJ needs a lift. Gas tank comes with skid plate standard. Imagine ... you can even drain the diff by taking out a drain screw ... not like an XJ .. having to take of the back plate & then having to clean & resilicone it.You do drive in water don't you? They even come with a decent gear ratio ... minimum 4:10's... Jeep ? You won't find a 4Runner running too hot because the engine bay is crammed & there is no air flow. Rust? show me an older Jeep (XJ, whyJ) that doesn't have cancer. I have one hole in my floor & replaced the 2 front fenders. Its now started to get some holes ... 20 yrs later after being full of water many times. Rear power window sucks ... but the rear top comes off. Why do so many Jeep owners seek pre 88 VINs? The CrazyFrenchMan hasn't been able to get his to pass an e-test. I assume you know the YJ? . What's not to like? The drivetrain can handle a small block ( many opt for a 350 when swapping but leave the drive line as it is hard to improve on Toyota's quality ... won't see a Jeep driveline last long doing that & that's why they have to be upgraded) It leaves a number of knowlegdeable people out here shaking their heads & laughing ... not with you, ... but at you. ;D My 10 yr. old daughter even knows better. I have 1998 XJ also and its a nice car like my 97 Ford Escort Wagon. The 4Runner & Escort don't need 4WD when there is 1 cm of snow. Will you please expound( the means explain in detail ) your point.Shaner says"Sorry, this piece of shit upset me so much i just needed to vent...lol. " Go ahead. Tyler says "Don't worry, I'm with you shaner... seen all too much of that myself too... " ... seen what? Pickupgirl says she "doesn't wear makeup". ( "smartass"? ... imagine how I could respond if I used my brain ? ) Last picture is the ONLY problem I have had with the 4Runner offroading since 2003 .... Hell's Trail Only difference now is that it has been snorkelled now for 3 yrs. Well, I have changed the fluids ... & fixed the window ($25) Go to the topic 92 XJ 250$ ... prime example of a Jeep?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Jeep guys have never had to spend money getting them to pass anything or safety. I am sorry but your logic is messed up man. I do not think you could ever put a Jeep of any kind against a Toy for reliability and strength of parts. Case closed.

one more thing, smartass... i Don't Wear Makeup. I dont need to put crap on my face, to think i look better- i'm pretty enough just the way i am, and i'm not going to cover it up with nonsense to "improve" what is already there by itself. And you remember that... Tell your daughter when she's 12.

my xj leaks oil, runs off-beat when its cold, makes funny smells and runs half-bald 31's with no lift.
And I couldn't be happier.
In all seriousness, Im happy with my pre-chryco XJ. But last week when I had the pleasure of riding in an FJ-45 I learned that anything from BOTH companies PRE 1990 are rockin' pieces of machinery. A 1978 FJ-45 is a pretty neat rig even stock.
My pre Chryco XJ takes a beating, still passed its Emissions test with huge success, the neanderthal-like FI system can be finiky but Ive had my luck. Sure alt placement could be moved higher and I could use a snorkel and tank skid but Im happy with what Ive got.
Total for purchase of rig, repair metal, safety and emissions. $566 and it dropped my ins. $20 a month.
Oh, Bushbeater, there's an 82 Toy Pickup with Solid Axles and an auto tranny at Hillcrest wreckers in Belleville.

Thanks KenoshaWarrior ... I'll drive by & check it out ... auto eh? No rubbing on full lock or flexed out? I can run 33's on my 4Runner, did it for part of a year, (stock bagged out suspension) but the front scrubs turning. Flexed straight it was good, 31's are np. Ya the FJ45's ( similar in style to a CJ8 ) pretty unigue ... You can get an aluminum tub through Aqualu like mine but for the 45. Mechanically the same as the 40. They are VERY collectible. Was the one you were in blue? Picture is for Shaner, Tyler and the makeup devoid Pickupgirl. 45's came with a crank & power takeoff ... used a lot in Africa as a multiuse vehicle ... truck, tractor. Another one of the legendary Toyotas used worldwide & not suited to the mall ( is that Trail Rated?) " A Toyota by another name is thankfully NOT a Jeep" (Ric 07)

That's why i call them Tonka Toys... just like the actual tonka toys, you can never keep all the parts in the same place let alone where they belong.... They were called TONKA TOYS because they were built stronger than all the other toys of the time ... hence FJ40's were known as Tonkas ... also IRON PIGS ( see www.ih8mud.com/ )

Bush there is just no educating the Jeep masses, but the nice part is, it leaves more toys for us to play with. The only reason I am running the Zuk and not a Toy, was this is what I found at the time, and now that the Toy axles are under it, I will put it up against any Toyta Jeep F/S whatever you would like to throw at it. To get the same reliability as this thing has in a Jeep you would need to .................................. Buy one of these or a Toyota LOL!
Here is one for the Jeep guys, what happens to one of your 4.0L or 4.2L engines when they hit 8000RPM, well really nothing because they blew a hole in them long before they got there, this little thing hits that RPM on a regular basis and has had no issue with it. Hell even the first motor I built her with had over 400K on it when I got it and ran like a bag and it still saw 8000 all the time, it even ran for a couple months after the 9500 RPM that finished the bottom end off!

Im almost convinced if toy's are anything like my 2001 civic, but bushy has some good points, some like my civic were built on a friday i think, while others were built by handsome fellows who take pride in there work like me and bush. lol.
