BINGO! Have you never had a sensor go? An d it not spit a code. Sensors don't always do what they're supposed to do! Take an O2 sensor, if they are going on they're way out, your vehicle won't ever pass an e-test! Yet, Until the Caravan and the XJ, I have never had a vehicle that the O2 sensor worked, and they've passed e-test. Yet no code was thrown after the sensor totally went. But, back to my original thought on this whole mess, Check grounds, power wires, even fuses and relays. Start with the smallest things and work up. Don't forget, wires run under your vehicle! They take all the sheet and abuse from water, to salt, to road sand and gravel. They all break down after a while. So! You've got a few ideas to start with here in this thread. If you have to, start with the smallest and cheapest and work your way up!

OK I'll admit that some sencors that were mentioned won't thow a code....temp sencor gone but know code...BUT you can have a indication that that particular sencor is gone my having the computer reading a different temp than normal..and signs of that are the computer thinking its still cold and it thowing more gas than it should inot the motor..then you get black smoke comming outa the exhaust..and if it runs to lean it can be detected by the plugs As for the O2 sencor....they are something that is supposed to be replaced every X amount of Kilometers cause they do get carboned up or worn out...that is the cause of there failor...and so yes they won't neccasarily throw a code if there on there way out...but your engine will tend to use more gas and your e-test will show signs that it's on the way out Waggy...failed e-test the first time...replace muddy filled air filter(my fault..lol)and O2 sencor...passed with flying colours...and got better milage too...then I put on 35's...mileage went to hell ;Dlmao I don't think a brake booster would make it stall like that though...although...ANYTHING is ALWAYS possible.....I've had alot of stuff go on Vehicles that people/mechanics say:"that never does that...or that part never go's"..well it/they went on mine ;D Hope SOME of the stuff mentioned here helps Mike(aka Monster Garage? or NastyCJ? )
