So this is what my frame rail looks like now! After being raped by a tow hook with little pressure put to it.

We'll Bushy and I noticed Stingers trailer hitch on a downward angle... Rear frame broke apart from the hitch... So I have to remove the fuel tank and box the rear frame section.. Must have tore it from pullin trucks out... Just another fix... The lucky thing is I had my trailer on yesterday, bringing furniture back with bushy from his Moms house to his place..then noticed the hitch...Ouch..may have been a problem...

Ya, no matter what I did, it wouldn't shrink down. I modded the post several times and finally gave up. LOL

Wranglerboy, you have to shrink the pic before you post it.
The only advantage to a pic that big is that you can see the stress cracks better.
Since my '00 has a hitch and after my week long trip in Moab, Utah, I found out my hitch was loose. It seems the hitch took most of the abuse when dropping off ledges and stressed the frame rail. After I dropped the hitch, there were dozens of stress cracks on both sides. I welded all the cracks, ground the welds down and welded some steel lumber angle posts on. The holes in the posts made perfect plug welds so the rear is now super solid.
Looks like rust had a major factor in you failure as well. Some good steel and welding will have you back as new.
