hey i got an 89 yj thats is ruunning like a bad of sh** 95% of the time. now everyone tells me it because of my carb and the distributor. so ive been told to put a distributor out of an inline 6 gm in my jeep by taking the gear off mine and puting itn on and of couse putting in a motorcraft 2100 carb. well that all good i got a friend that runs the kaladar auto place and they got at least 25 of each right...but how do i know what carb is the 2100? found at least 20 that just say motorcraft. and how do i know what distributor? does anyone know?

You will need a Dist from a Chev 250 inline 6cyl, with the big cap HEI. Late 70's to late 80's. Can't remember the exact years anymore.
Then you need a gear from either an 80's AMC 304 or an older Jeep 232 or 258 with Points Dist. These are called Prestolite dist's.
For bone yard scrounging your pretty safe if
A) its a Chev
B) if its a straight 6
C) if it has the Big Cap HEI
Do a google search there is tons of info out there. As far as carb, Matty will have to help on this, my Plow YJ runs like shit too..

As for your carb, if it's a weber, don't always diss it. I have one that I can stand my jeep straight up and it doesn't stall out, and another that doesn't do inclines well, but runs like a top!

Tex's yard (Kaladar Wreckers on 41) Probably won't have what you're needing.
Everything I can think of can be had at Kinney's in Kaladar. I *know* they have 304 CJ's, the inline 6 chev may be a treck but they have a few chev's there. Should be able to get what you need. Also, Jim Baker on Harlowe Rd might have what you need. He's also got a friggin AW-4 2.5L 2wd XJ.

sorry for taking so long to write back but my home computer wont let me on the site. But anyways yes i am talking about tex they just got a van in with a inline 6 that was i was thinking it may work? and i still have no idea how to tell all the motorcraft carbs apart

I googled motorcraft 2100 this morning. Just google it, there is alot of info on them. Didn't get to link anything, cause my computer doesn't like to add links for some reason.
Try it, see what you can find. Let us know. See if I can dig up some more info on them for ya.

That van should have the dist you need. As long as it is a GM van with the Big cap HEI your good.
