hey i got a 89 yj and today i was out wheelin and now i got alot of fluid pissing out of the rear drive shaft..wtf is that from? rear seat shot?? i have no idea and im to be out wheeling again tomorrow and it has me worried im not to sure what it is..but if i dont hear back tonight im goin to take it to my friend to look at it...and then ill post what was wrong if none has any ideas for me

OK calm down..lol What colour is the fluid and where is it comming from If it is red and it's comming from back of the tranny than is't more than likely the transfercase end seal...not a biggy to replace..done mine a couple times...take driveshaft out///pry out old seal with a screw driver(trying not to fawk up the transfercase end TOO bad  )get big ass socket and tap new one into place...barring socket use little taps evenly around the whole seal till it's seated evenly Let us know |

lube up the new seal with some fluid so it seats a bit easier.

If it is at the driveshaft, being 4x4, it is your seal. As Low and Adam said, replace being careful not to screw up t-case tail stock. If it's from the back of the tranny, it'll be red id auto, and almost clear if manual. Manual only has gear oil. Little more involved if it's the tranny, but not too hard if standard.

the fluid looked like motor oil...but my buddy told me just to put tranny fluid in it so thats what i did..and it was the rear seal...but the day after when i went mudding i broke my windshield wipers...i can hear the motor running but wipers dont move...and i dont know where the wiper motor is on it to look to see whats wrong...so anyone have any ideas?

It's probably the teeth in the arms. They're probably sheared off. Take the arms off and check. If they are, I have extras here. Actually, I have a motor, arms, linkage, everything. LOL Find out and let me know.

hey ya all it was that the linkage came off nd the litte L thing on the motor was all effed up fixx it and now it mint..
