try holding the brakes on, and holding the key in the start position and move the shifter around threw the gears.... BE CAREFUL IT MAY START IN ANY GEAR>>>> if thats the case its just the shifter outa whack

Hey Liss, your shifter needs adjustment. It's not reaching the park position. Be carefull cause this means that your parking pin is not locking in and your jeep could roll anywhere. It's not starting cause without being in park, the neutral safety switch isn't activated. Try starting it in neutral. If it still doesn't start, it's either not in neutral even though the column says it is or you hava a relay gone in the ignition system somewhere. The adjustment is easy to do, it's all in the shifter linkage underneath your heep. Hope this helps, if it's not these things, I'm stumped, but will think abouut it and try to figure it out for ya.

The neutral safety switch might be an issue if the jeep is not going into park then it might not want to let you start it. Try dropping back into Neutral and if still will not start I would suggest that neatral safety. Never heard of a shifter issue on Jeeps, but there is a first for everything.
