yeah need to find out what tranny it has...more than likely it's a Peugo(sp) tranny.....easiest way to tell it if the stick commin outa the tranny won't unbolt....unless yours is a 4banger than more than likely it's a AX5....if the stick shift will unbolt from the top of the tranny than it's a AX15 Unfortunaly I don't have a spare of any of those unless it's a ax5;...one of those I have sitting here in the garage

If it has 3 bolts to holf the stick, it is most likely a Peugot! Look at the casing, Peugot, or the BA's, were the only ones to split lengthwise! The AX's split apart crosswise! Did that make sense? LOL Anyways, Look at the casing on the top or the bottom of the tranny, you'll see where the tranny splits apart! Can't help if we don't know if you need an AX-5,AX-15, BA-5 OR BA-10! (4 or 6 cyl, and which brand of tranny)

His YJ is an 89 so yeah, BA-10 trans.
You're not going to find much in any yards around here. Kinney's has an AX-5 in the YJ that's there, Harrison's doesnt, Hillcrest has no YJ's, Kaladar Wreckers would be a long shot but definately try. Last time I was there, they had a 4.2/Ba-10 combo sitting for sale. OH YEAH
Back at the back of the yard is a front-cli-p-less YJ with a 4.2 and BA-10. Grab that.

When I went out to Kinneys for a bell housing for mine when I trashed it and the t-case and frame rails, (he he he), he had 2 or 3 good BA's and several for parts! And they went from BA's to AX's in mid 89, so the year is a messed up one! The BA breaks apart from front to back, not from side to side! The only one that does! Jeepwise!

About what part? The BA-10, which is for the 6 cyl, from 1987-mid 1989, it comes apart length wise! (Wish I could freakin draw on this stupid thing! Mind you then I'd have marker on my moniter, right? lol) Anyways, you will see where the tranny comes apart. The part, joint, two halves that go together to make one whole piece, will run from the front of the tranny, (back of the bell housing) towards the back of the tranny (towards the T-case). The AX-15, which id also for the 6cyl. but from mid 1989 - XXXX the joint will run around the tranny, wrapping around it.
Don't worry about the BA-5 or the AX-5, they are for the 4 cyls.
Kinneys had some, there was one right straight out from the office, about 200 feet straight out, laying on the ground, think that one was for parts, and there were a couple up to the South east of the office. Think that was the direction, wasn't looking at the sun that day! lol
Also the BA's are more slender, look very slim, the AX's are more round. Only REAL difference between them was the centre shaft, BA's used a 5/8" thick shaft, and AX's used a 3/4" thick shaft!
Bad, Hummy, and Bushy, no touchy that comment! I mean it! LOL
