have a dana 44 out of a zj for sale. I have it posted on jeepkings. I just realized tonight that it is a c clip 44.. dont have time to work on it right now

so if this is for a ZJ, then it has coil buckets. You mentioned you removed the perches, but it wouldn't have perches, if it were for a ZJ
Just trying to figure this out.
Are you sure of the gears in it?

didn't know ZJ's came with D44's  Also if it is outa a XJ then it woulda been a 87-90 and they are non-c clip...well atleast the one I picked up was |

yea, it is called a D44a. a is for aluminum. the housing is made out of aluminum, and is weaker than a normal d44.
Not only would it have coil buckets, but control arm mounts, and a trac bar bracket as well.

okl here is the down low. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WAS DONE TO THIS AXLE PRIOR TO ME HAVING IT. It says right on the ring gear 355 and there is leaf spring brackets on it. LIKE I SAID NO IDEA WHAT ANYONE DID PRIOR TO ME OWNING IT. am sure it has c clips cause i saw them and it has a steel cover cause somebody probably changed it to screw me over when i bought it. I just saw the steel cover and asumed that it was a normal 44

That's cool...I learn something new everyday...never claimed to know everything ;D...Well I thought about getting it for a spare BUT if it's C Clip it might not be any good to me.....BUT wouldn't that be a cheap way for somone to upgrade there axle from a D35 with C Clip to a Super D35...I mean think about it...Super 35's are 30 spline.....about the only real difference as far as I know...and D44's are 30 spline too aren't they...wonder if the axle shafts are interchangable......just throwing out idea's here ;D
