fawk man, never ran an XJ on the street in snow, like a roller-caoster, but when you pop'er into 4hi its like a rolling boulder.

Enough crap about XJ's ... I now own one( '98, 4 door, red, auto, 4.0L Classic) & can see the b/s
Sure it has some power but useless in the snow. The open diff sucks ... spins on every corner. It gets stuck everywhere. I was pulling out of a buddy's garage ( Crazy Frenchman was home from Toronto & WITNESSED this .... got stuck on a sq ft patch of snow about 1/2" high under the passenger's rear wheel as I slowly drove over it. I had to go into 4wd or get pushed( stock so it has NO tow points... imagine !!!!!). An impaired 300 woman in a wheel chair could have made it through there using one wheel/arm.
So ... yes XJ's are great ... when they have momentum or have been completely changed with lockers &/or major suapension tire upgrades. For now .. mine is suited to what May-Sept. weather can blanket the paved road with.
Now that I want to through the 31's from my 4Runner on it ... I HAVE TO PUT A LIFT IN IT .... how stupid is that ... never heard of that with Toyotas. 31's !!! ... they're tiny !!!
Bragging about an XJ is like screaming to the world about how well your bowling ball floats.
At least now I KNOW the TRUTH. Now the work begins ... tow points/hitch, locker, lift, tires ... gee my 4Runner already has that.

Wow bushy... you had enough of a rant there to start your own thread!
I drive a GMC Safari. I understand when it won't move over a patch of snow, as the Safari will literally get stuck on the lip of the sidewalk, even with a run at it. I have absolutely no problem putting anything into 4x4 to go through snow no matter how deep it is thanks to that piece of shit's lessons.
Anyways... too bad you don't like your Jeep... might as well sell it I guess...
BTW, I'm running 31's without lift.

I loved my XJ and even the first one I Had on 30's went further than most of the YJ's around it. Hell on 32's I was walking all over YJs on 35's I think it might be the Toyota guy driving it HAHAHAHA!

Believe me I know how to drive a 4x4... having learned with a stock 4Runner (31's & locked in the rear now) as well as with the FJ40, 35's dbl locked, & a history in some tough Ont. offroad events. My expectations for this stock vehicle were high from all the accolades I hear from my buddies. Balloon popped.
I also understand how open diffs & bald 28's work if I hear mutterings about that too.... duh.
Ya ... Driving a Toyota .. you just point & go ... no skill needed. "Must be a Toyota driver." Right !
As for some on here who take me seriously about the Jeeps ... relax ... I do it to irritate 90% of the offroaders ... the Jeep guys who know .... know there are 2 offroad vehicles ... Suzuki's & Toyotas. All others are posers ... well maybe Ladas too.
KenoshaWarrior ... did you have to stop on the Hydroline when the pavement ended?
See I got some of you excited ... mission accomplished.

As Forest Gump would say ... "Jeeps are like a box of chocolates ... after being in the sun .... stuck" or "Jeeps are like a box of chocolates except they were EXLAX".
Don't get your feathers ruffled guys ... Jeeps are like Britney Spears ... everybody talks about them ... in disgust ( but a bit of lust)
OK ... I'm sorry ... but I got you smiling ... a little?
Hey its a Jeep .. drive, break it ... keep the US auto industry going by needing more parts.
Jeep owners are GREEN ... they clean out the scrap yards
Ok ... gotta go ... for now ... but I'll be back ( dam?)

Bushy.............did you forget to take your meds today.........LMAO..........Are these the rantings of a disgruntle JEEP owner..................Did you expect the XJ to live up to the legendary TOYOTA............these are all questions that should have asked prior to purchasing the XJ..........If nothing else it will be great for mall crawls between the months of May till Sept. If nothing else I'm sure you wont have a hard time parting it out lots of XJs out there in need of parts.

WHO THE FAWK WAS THAT...DAMN...he goes to Florida....and then when he finally gets back(without I might add...any naked pictures of Minnie Mouse...)the first post he makes is a rant about how he got stuck in a XJ in someones driveway.... Damn Bushy...how the hell are ya..long time no annoy..lmao...so here goes.... Maybe ya should take your superior off-road skills( ::)lmao)to good use and LEARN WTF the difference is between rigs before diss'n the almighty XJ....you where used to drivin a Runner with 31's(with good tread) and a rear locker You don't "Need" the lift to run 31's aslong as your not "really" wheeling it... You could run the 31's on the Runner cause that thing flexes like a 4x4 piece of wood ;D...no flex...no worry of scrubbin ;D I ran 31's on the Waggy for months(wheeling the pee outa it)without scrubbing..just cut my fenders..something that I wouldn't advize you to do...yours are to nice ;D..put the 31's on..you'll just scrub the fenders a little if you get into wheeling it like that...but for getting to the Mall..or getting to someones driveway...you'll be fine
O and hey..WTF/...my Crazy partner in crime was down and no stop in here to say hi......Monkey sad
Now Bushy...go stare at Bushwackers empty engine bay and cry Also it must be noted the other problem your havin with the XJ is that it's got more power than your used too ;D ;D(well other than your Vette...hey there ya go...kill two birds with one stone...ya wanted to work on the Vette this year....take the motor outa it and put it in Bushwacker ;D)

And Lowrad .... The frigging XJ sucks gas ... I got 18 mpg ( 390 km on 61 L ) driving 100-110 to Kingston & then in the country around here. They called Cruzr's .. Iron Pigs & my Vette is a hog ... but they are equal to or better than the XJ ... what gives. 4Runner averaged 25 (winter/summer with 31's) drving the heck out of the mice under the hood.
Ya .. I like the power in the XJ ... pulled out in front of a car ... decided to haul a_ _ ... & the open diff >rear wheel just spun ... guy behind had to hit the binders. Got nice cupholders in the front though.
OK OK ... I see it has potential ... sort of like Ugly Betty .
As you say ... I am used to the 4Runner ... I need to lower my expectations.
Really though when it is all sorted out ... should be good. I like the size. Colour is well hmmm , too common. I also like having 5 doors, fiberglass tailgate with no power window (yes I like that).
Hey I have a cherry bomb muffler on there ... sounds pretty good .. a LOT louder than Bud's.
Fun getting you going though
