???I'm not sure but i'd check the booster for vacume & leaks, before changing anything find out for sure, its power brakes right if ur getting some fluid to the back just no pressure aid, it should feel different when truck is off, but when running should feel the power assist in the pedal kind of sqishy ? dono for sure never had to replace master cyd, just some thoughs, hope some made sense..  |

OK...does the pedal get hard without it running
If so fire it up and if the pedal goes down a little the master is ok...if if goes down a WHOLE bunch I'd say seal or whatever Burnt said...so ya I'd say new Master.....but usually if the master goes you'll still have some brakes....but it will wanna surge and move forward...basically feel like the brakes are letting off when its in gear and at a stop....

pedal get pressure if u pump it when trucks off, if u give it like 10 secs and hit it again nothin there. and absolutly nothin for pedal pressure when truck is runnin just the little at the end of the pedal not even if u pump it. lots of vacum no problem there

If what your saying is you can pump it up and the pedal is hard and doesn't fad away when the engine is off.......and after it sits for 10 seconds and you hit the pedal it basically goes to the floor I would bleed all the brakes again and if it has shoes on the rear make sure they are adjusted up. If you can pump up the pedal and it doesn't fad it usually indicates air in the system or your rear shoe are out of adjustment. I take it you have actually had someone try to turn the wheels when the brakes were applied to make sure they are even working.

I think Bart's right if the cylinders are not seized & the shoes are out of adjustment or air in the line you would have some of those symptoms, so i'd check those things and go from there lets us know what u find, i did mine after changing some lines which are pretty much the same, so check for that drip somewhere too cause if there is a leak your back to square one so totaly eliminate that, i had shoes adjusted up nice & bled the lines real good and they are pretty good, mine took alot of fluid pumped through to be free of air pockets, i usually go through at least half a litre of fluid well almost, and i could prolly bleed it again to get more air out just to be safe, & keep it from going empty cause that takes more to start again done that lol.

Yeah I'd make sure the rear wheel cylinders are working too. Press them in with a screwdriver or something and if they don't move in or when they move in if they don't move out then I'd say you need new ones. Worst case senario is your master. Or the brake booster. But that's WORST case

well ya barts right i would say you need to adjust the rear brakes then bleed theam all some vehicle's are really hard to get the air out and when you bleed theam open the bleader screw and push on the pedle realfast then shut the bleeder and then let off the pedle then open it and do the same thing over then after doin that a few times just bleed theam normaly that should get the air out

don't get any pressure to bleed the brakes. buddy's dad seems to think i need a new vacum booster he says its a normal thing on these.

Could be the diaphram in the Booster is shot....don't know how much a new booste would cost ya....but maybe good idea to upgrade your booster if there is a difference between the 250-350 and the 150...

if your booster is toast your brakes still operate normaly it just takes more effort

Don't know if you got it figured out yet but i had the same problem with mine. Equalizer valve stuck after a line went. Ended up with a air-lock in it. Try cracking open the brake line at the valve. Then bleed the brakes again. And yes, make sure they are adjusted up. It worked for me.
