Hey everyone just thought I would give you a heads up. My brother was trying to buy a truck thru kijiji.ca, its an online classified. The truck was a 2001 Chev 1500 4x4 with 130,000 kms. The story was that the lady selling it was awarded the truck in a divorce settelment. She knew nothing about trucks and just wanted it sold. She wanted $3600 as is. She referenced that ebay would hold the money for 10 days while the buyer inspected the truck. Durring the 10 days, he could cancel the sale if he wasnt happy. The emails gave all the ebay info and it was correct to what ebay offers. The catch is that they require the money to be wired to an acct that doesnt contain Ebay's name just numbers. For somebody looking for a good deal this scenario does seem legit and plausible. There was even an Ebay report showing her in good standing. He sent the money. This is where it gets fishy. They sent an email saying there was a problem with transportation of the vehicle and that he would need to send another $1500 that would be later refunded to him. This is where he realized he was screwed. Why would Ebay, a huge company need $1500 and then give it back, even the email had spelling errors. He went to the cops but little can be done.
Be careful out there. I have seen this add for all types of rigs. Make sure you are using good quality sites like Ebay.com, autotrader.ca, xtremetruckz.com or kijiji.ca. These are legit sites but sometimes fraudsters can post their stuff on them. Contact the site directly regarding the add if it seems fishy. Be xtra careful when sending money.
Hope this saves you some money
