i'm debatin, over winter, throwin a solid axle under the front .. perhaps a dana 60, with a 14-bolt in the rear, and leaving it the same height or if i score a good job, lift it taller with 2 1/2 ton rockwells .. thatd be mint

My question Mudslngr is "WHY"? or "Where are you headed"?
Definitely a solid axle & Dana 60's is strong ... but why? Your truck has too long a wheelbase to seriously do rocks, too wide with too long a wheelbase to comfortably do the trails most of us run. However by doing what you want ... capable.
If MUD is the prime goal ... then height & overall tire size is important as well as having a long wheelbase (probably). Is this the best way to achieve that ... probably with approriate tires & lockers ( & a major winch ... no pulls ... ask Lowrad).
So in the long run ... decide where you want to be when it is done because you have all that time & $ invested & you have to live there a while.
One man's opinion ...

thanks for the $0.02 bushy .. i need to figure out what i want/need .. i'm almost positive i'm guna put a solid axle under the front, caus i spend enough time offroad now, that i want the reliability of the solid axle .. basically i like my truck the way it is, i jus want stronger axles, and maybe another 3-4" of lift .. basically what i want is to get the driveline strong enough so that i wont have to worry about breaking anything unless i REALLY push the truck .. i'm thinkin what i want is a 60 up front, 14 bolt in the back, 35s .. MAYBE n thats a BIG maybe, 38s, lockers front and back .. and 4.56s .. n i should be good to go .. i duno .. i need to score a good-paying job, so i can afford all this shit .. right now i'm barely making enough money to keep the fuckin truck on the road .. oh well .. i'll get this dilemma all figured out. THANKS. MDSLNGR.

You have a great looking truck & with a bit of work it will be reliable & capable. I just feel that its hard to get a great general purpose truck. Regardless of the Jeep/Yota issues, there are so many factors that it is all personal as to where one wants to end up. A Rubicon on 35's or 37's is great ............ unless you want to carry a lot of stuff ( My choice if Yotas hadn't been invented).
Fullsize carries a pile but is limited offroading. Crap ... buy a Subaru WRX Stii .... have fun ( designed by Yasimoto Toyota !! true).
Actually a Cherokee is a good choice ... room , performance ... just needs to be upgraded to Yota parts ( I know , I know ... except the engine)

hey bushy! thanks again for the comments. i think i've decided what i'm doing with the truck now. gunna put a solid axle under the front, and upgrade the running gear to at LEAST one ton, and maybe go a little bigger. on the topic of other vehicles, i was looking to get a toyota sr5, and build it up, jus caus they're a much smaller truck .. but I'd need to sell mine first before I start throwin around ideas like that. ah well .. i'll get this whole thing figured out .. no matter what happens, in the spring, whatever i'm driving will be much more capable than what I have right now! THANKS. MDSLNGR.

There is a Yota pick up in Wooler for sale. Looked at it the other day. Body has some cancer, but nothing too major. Mostly surface. Soft spot in floor drivers side, it is the extended cab kind. V6, Tubular runners, roll bar, 33' BFG's. $2500 Number is 397-1743. Don't know who they are, I just grabbed the number off the sign. Can't remember mileage.
