okay so with in the last couple of months i have had to put about 5 starters in my jeep, does anyone know what that could mean?

are they new or used
what year is your YJ again...it's a 88 or something right
If so maybe your timming is to far advanced and maken to much draw on the starter
Have you had to be boosted anytime with the bump starter
What exacly happens when the starter goes...does it just not turn over anymore.....does it clunk or make any wierd noises
How long are you turning over the engine to start it...general rule there is that the vehicle should only turn over about 6-8 times or so...never let it turn over for more than 10-15 sec's at a time...that is a contributing factor
Has the tranny and engine ever been apart to your knoledge....it might be that the starter is to far into the tranny and needs to be shimed or something
Many verables.....if you can answer some of those maybe we can all help

it makes no noises i hit it with a hammer then it made a scrubbing sound.
it wont turn over but i bum start it then it usually works for a bit then it wontan yes its a refurbished one canadian tire champion special

Bent flywheel is a definate posibility....but if it were that bad I would think it would through the crank outa round......still possible I guess....what about the teeth on the flywheel...can ya see any bad ones
Maybe it's got some bad teeth on the flywheel and it happens to keep hitting that spot

the fly wheel aint worped it was the starter theres 2 diffrent ones an well they gave me the wrong one 4 times an i put them in not jeep girl
