I found out today my front drive shaft doesn't have enough slip yoke length for my suspension to cycle through its full travel so i'm wondering if anyone knows any vehicle that came factory with more than 4.5" of slip yoke length the specs i'm looking for is, a shaft diameter of 2" with a .120" wall and a 1310 yoke and it must a slip yoke built into the shaft, length of the shaft doesn’t matter I can shorten or lengthen it as necessary also the non slip end doesn’t matter as I’ll need to use my CV joint that is specific to the gm np205 case I’m also thinking maybe a rear shaft may fit the bill but I haven’t found one yet. I'll consider any ideas as long as I can make my truck jumpable again

Would it not be easier to just lengthen the shaft OH wait that is her Job sorry! On a serious not though you could cut and sleeve the existing shaft as it is the front and would not be used at High speed, or take it to a Driveline shop and have them do it properly on a lathe so it is perfectly straight!

The problem is not the length of the shaft I can lengthen or shorten it all I want (i'm getting good at it now no balance issues either) but the problem is the length of the slip yoke travel it is the correct length compressed but is an inch to short extended (the joys of a long travel suspension)

how much up travel do you run in your suspension ? be careful with the jumps drive shafts tend to push 205s right off the back of the tranny.. I would limit up travel to about 3 inches and see what that does for you, set the shaft to almost bottom under full compression then you may have decent enough spline engagment.. if you have a winch just do a little creative winching to bottom it... Setting your bumpstops to limit uptravel on hard hits is a good thing and it also actually will help in the flex department by what i call forced articulation, the axle hits the bumpstop when flexed and cantalevers the other side down... hope that helps... If ya dont want to spent a pile and just want a long travel shaft for offroad rants then build yourself a sqaure pto style TSC is a good place for that .... Ron

I've already replaced one trany to t-case adapter the truck has 13" of travel but that’s limited by the shocks (don't worry there cheapy Monroe’s so they do double duty as limit straps) it has 4.5" poly bumpstops set in the proper position up travel is about 6" i've already set the driveshaft length at full stuff and that’s why its separating at full droop i've been thinking about doing the TSC square driveshaft but I don't know how well that will balance (this is a multi purpose truck built for everything from rock crawling to high speed dune jumping) plus with the travel i'll likely need to keep my CV or i'll wind up busting u-joints

Bud & I watched Chris aka Screwen of K-ROC at Killer once. On the hydro line he was climbing some rocks ... slow, easy in his 4.3L YJ auto crawling ... when his square tubed driveshaft twisted 7 snapped ( I have photos somewhere). Said he would never do it again... have a shaft like that. Maybe different shafts
My 2 cents

Bush I have to say he did not make it out of Good tube then, I have a buddy that has this done on his Yoda and it had landed hard as Hell on it and never left more then a scratch. I would agree on the limited Up travel to help the issues a but, that or cough up for a $300 custom shaft. I only have about 3" of Up travel, I could use more, but I am telling you this thing flexes about 100 times better now then it did on Zuk springs. It might actually flex better then my old XJ did!

I have 5 inches of shock showing 4 inches up on the new setup shock limits itself .. insane down travel tho ;D

Long what shocks are you running man, I am using shocks for a 4" lift solid axle Chev truck, and I am thinking of redoing the shock hoop and going with a longer shocks.
