You need a vin plate from a Toyota 4Runner ! My 88 passed so easily with marked 480 000km (broken speedo for 1 year). You should get one & say you modified it to look like a Jeep because the locals all raz you about driving a Toyota . Only problem ... finding one ... hardly any in a wreckers because they are all getting broken in at half a million km. It a Toyota thing, you'd understand ....

To get mine to pass with a valve not seating properly, I drained the oil, filled with diesel. Ran for about 10 minutes, drained. Left filler cap and drain plug off as well as filter for about half an hour to lets fumes out. Filled with oil, after putting new filter on, and used 20w50. Thicker, doesn't burn as easily. The diesel replenishes the seals, expanding them back to original size. Also, advanced timing slightly, not much! Went from not being able to test due to blowing oil out the exhaust and clogging the test probe, (no Bad, not butt probe), to passing the e-test. Also straightened a pushrod the best we could.

Hey Bushy there is never any Yoda's at the wrecker cause they never bother trying to get any parts off them...they just crush them cause there are so many....logic...that is monkey's middle name..lol As for not passing...what where your reading Ken.....if it was high at 40K just put it in 4wheel and tell them it's in there permanently know...then they just do a 2 idle test...OR if your like the Waggy the Test show I'm taking it to won't do the 40K test with anything over a 33...SO me on 35's..they just do a 2 idle test....what where the reading specificly....you've got that aftermarket carb on there too...that might have something to do with it....put your factory carb back on...you know all this being a mechanic and all Just my curiousity...I wana know what didn't pass

I don't remember the readings but I know it wasn't even close. About 2 years ago I put a reman engine in with new everything, carb, dist, etc I thought it might pass but no luck at this point the guts have been punch out of the cat and all the pollution crap is disconnected and thats the way its gonna stay. Ill pay my 100 or 200 or what ever for the conditional until she becomes an 87.

Take yer t-case shifter out and tell them it's full time 4wd... This way they can't put it on the dyno and will only be able to do a "curb idle test" Might be worth a try... Kelly

Kelly They'll do a 2 idle speed test...curb idle and then rev it in park to about 2500 for 40k part...just had this done with Waggy....as for the punched out Cat and no Polution crap on it...NO WONDER IT DIDN'T PASS...LMAO...O and it's like 450 for the conditional know Ken...unless you get the engine diognostic done(which costs around 150-200 depending where) and then that will tell you exactley what it needs or has made it fail..THEN if what it needs or has made it fail as for parts adds up to more than 450 THEN you can get a conditional pass with the test..done a little research on this and this is my understanding...BUT don't take my word as gospel...ask around
