ummm... also make sure your aware of the cylinder head cc's and how it affects compression ratio if you start swapping heads

Thanx Fierodude, i'll be check'n back to this as i can't remember half of what i just read, oh i checked the bore 3.8750 , 283 alright cant tell how to tell the crank yet.

easy way. if the pistons are still in and it rolls over then measure how far the piston travels in the cylinder

Cool good to know now that i've got all the starting points, when ya comin down to finish it LOL, checked the heads 283 327 60cc chambers i can go a little bigger before valve hits the walls, studebaker also used these made in canada, would also like to find the powerglide tranny that goes with this block that may be a challenge to find for cheap as i hear they are good.

No questions but, but, LOL, no auto's not even whatchamacallem's 350turbo or TH 400 what ever they are LOL, hey what kind of small block parts do you have left if any HMMMM!.

ya no questions like why theres an extra sbc 400 rotating assembly on the list of parts lol
and no i've yet to find any auto that can be practicly adapted to an older chassis and be anywere as strong as the old 4-speeds the only thing that comes close is the allisins but then you've got the computer to go with it and the hassle of getting it to work outside of the origonal vehicle
the best auto you can get without any hasle would be a TH475 (but it's still an auto so its poop lol)
plus i like the control of the stick shift
i think all i have left is the tired 2 bolt 350 in the K-5 and my 400 set up (400 block crank rods ) and the vortec top end to go with it
if the right deal come's allong i may sell the 400 but i'm not sure what i'm doing with it now. may build it. may buy something bigger. i havent a clue what i'm doing with the K-5 now.(well i'm doing nothing to it, all my tools are at nissan errr!)
